WYAS
WYAS opens on Tuesday evenings from 7.15pm for members and the public.
Our visiting speaker will be here approximately once a month.
The beginner course is run on Fridays.
The West Yorkshire Astronomical Society Was Formed in 1973
A few years later work began to build our observatory this work was carried out entirely by members in their spare time.
The Rosse Observatory was completed in 1983 and opened by Patrick Moore on Sunday September 25th 1983.
UPDATED to give wheelchair access
We have upgraded the observatory to cater for wheelchair access to both observatory and rear observing pad.
Our fantastic recently installed new dome mounted telescope for beginners and astro-photographers to use.
CHARGES TO VISIT
We charge £3.00 for members and Carleton Community Centre Members and £4.00 for non members.
Visiting speaker evenings are charged at £4.00 for members and £5.00 for non members.
GROUP VISITORS
We can accommodate visits by schools, youth groups and adult groups. Please contact wyassecretary@gmail.com or see our website at wyas.org.uk for information.
We love to put on a show at WYAS your always welcome at one of our meetings.
